UPDATED 8/15/2024: If you have a Microsoft 365 Family or Personal subscription, you may install the suite of applications—which includes Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, and Teams—on Windows 11 (and 10) in a few different methods. I’ll walk you through the process in this post.
The first option is to download the one-click installer by logging into your online account; the second is to use the Microsoft Store app; and the third is to use the Windows Package Manager (winget) to install the Office programs using PowerShell or Command Prompt.
I’ll walk you through the process of installing the Office suite of apps on both Windows 10 and Windows 11, as it was previously known.
Install Microsoft 365 apps on Windows
The Microsoft Store app or your Microsoft account can be used to install the Microsoft 365 apps. The installer can also be accessed through the Microsoft 365 (Office) app, although this is merely a connection to the Microsoft account feature.
From the Microsoft Store
Use these procedures to install Microsoft 365 apps via the Windows 11 (or 10) app store:
Launch the Microsoft Store app.
Launch the Family or Personal page of Microsoft 365.
On the Install button, click.
The applications will download and install on your computer once you’ve finished the procedures.
From your Microsoft account
Follow these instructions to install Office applications from your Microsoft account on Windows 11 (or 10):
Web-based OpenMicrosoft account.
Use the account linked to the subscription to log in.
To access Services & Subscriptions, click the button.
To access the Microsoft 365 Family or Personal configuration, click the Manage option.
On the Install button, click.
Select the language for installation.
Choose the appropriate app version.
To download the installer, click the Install button.
To start the Microsoft 365 program installation, double-click the OfficeSetup.exe file.
All of the programs, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, Teams, and others (if applicable), will be downloaded and installed by the setup after you finish the instructions.
From Command Prompt or PowerShell
LaunchStart.
Right-click the top result after searching for “Command Promptor PowerShell” and choose “Run as administrator.”
To install the Microsoft 365 (Office) programs on Windows 11, use the following command and hit Enter:
The installer will download and start the setup procedure once you’ve finished the instructions. You will see a command shell window that appears to be stuck when you use this method, but the programs are installed in the background. All you have to do is give yourself time to finish.
You can install the Microsoft 365 apps for free by using the winget command, but in order to activate the product, you will still need to log in with your Microsoft account.
You can delete the Microsoft 365 apps using the instructions and then reinstall them if you’re experiencing installation problems.
Additionally, you can install Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook without an internet connection by using the Offline installer option, which downloads the complete installation. On the other hand, throughout the installation process, the other installers will stream the files from the Microsoft servers to the PC.
When the default option fails, the offline installer is useful. To save time and lessen internet usage on a limited data plan, you can also download the installer only once if you need to install the programs on several devices.
It’s better to share your Microsoft 365 Family subscription with someone else if you wish to install the apps on their computer. Your friend or family member can select from the above installation options after they receive the invitation.
Additionally, the second individual will gain access to OneDrive’s 1TB of storage as well as all of the other benefits that come with the membership.
If you have a Microsoft 365 Personal membership, you are unable to share the service. You may theoretically download and install Office on someone else’s computer if you are aware of the hazards involved in sharing your information, but you will need to log in with your Microsoft account in order to activate the setup.
Only up to five devices can access the service simultaneously, even though you can install the apps on as many devices as you like.
Additionally, with the new Copilot Pro subscription, you can now use AI to expand the app’s functionality. Access to Copilot from Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, and Outlook will be possible with the paid version of the service. Each user must pay $20 a month for the subscription.
Update August 15, 2024: To guarantee accuracy and take into account modifications to the procedure, this guide has been revised.
