How to delete profile in Outlook on Windows

  • To remove an Outlook profile on Windows, open

    Control Panel

    Mail

    . Or open

    Outlook

    File

    >

    Account Settings

    >

    Manage Profiles

    . Then click on

    Show Profiles,

    select the Outlook profile and click

    Remove.

UPDATED August 21, 2024:Your accounts, data files, settings, and preferences are all included in a profile in the old Outlook desktop application, which is a component of the Microsoft 365 suite. You can remove the profile from Windows 11 or 10 if you experience issues syncing, run into errors, or decide you no longer need it.

All downloaded emails will be erased when you remove an Outlook profile. Any Personal Folders Files (pst) linked to the profile, however, will remain on your device and be accessible from a different profile in the future.

In order to restart or resolve problems with the email client software, I will describe in this post how to remove an Outlook profile and all of its data on Windows 11 and Windows 10.

Use these procedures to remove an Outlook app profile from Microsoft 365, Office 2021, 2019, 2016, and previous versions:

LaunchStart.

To launch the application, search for “Control Panel” and select the top result.

On User Accounts, click.

To access Microsoft Outlook, click on Mail.

Click the “Show Profiles” option under the “Profiles” section.

Choose the profile.

Press the “Delete” button.

Press the “Yes” button.

Press the “OK” button.

The profile, its accounts, and the offline cache will be deleted from the Outlook application when you finish the procedures. In order to start over or resolve problems with your accounts or app, you will need to set up your accounts anew when you launch the desktop edition of Outlook.

You might have to go through the process again if you have more than one profile.

Use these procedures to delete a profile from the Outlook application:

Launch the Outlook application.

Select “File.”

Press onInfo.

Choose the Manage Profiles option from the Account settings menu on the right.

In the Profiles area, click the Show Profiles button.

To remove a profile from Outlook, select it.

Press the “Delete” button.

Press the “Yes” button.

Press the “OK” button.

The profile will no longer be accessible in Outlook once you have finished the procedures.

Only the classic Outlook desktop application is covered by these instructions. The account profile can be deleted by simply opening Settings>Accounts>Email accounts, clicking the Manage option, and then clicking the Remove button if you have upgraded to the latest version of Outlook for Windows 11.
