The Microsoft Edge browser can be installed on Ubuntu and other Linux distributions (Mint, Debian, Fedora, and openSUSE) via the Stable, Beta, and Dev Channels. The application can also be downloaded and installed via the terminal using GUI commands.
With support for extensions, development tools, and essential rendering technologies, the browser version will be nearly identical to those found on Windows 10 and Windows 11, regardless of platform. Additionally, you may sync your bookmarks and settings across devices and establish a profile.
I’ll walk you through the process of installing Microsoft Edge on Linux in this post. Although I’m using Ubuntu 24.04 in this instance, the steps should work on other graphical user interface distributions.

Install Microsoft Edge from GUI on Linux
Follow these instructions to install the Microsoft Edge app on Like (such as Ubuntu, Linux Mint, or another flavor):
The webpage for Microsoft Edge.
To download the Edge button, click it.
To download the installer, click the “Accept” and “download” buttons.
To start the installer, double-click the *.debfile.
To install Edge on Linux, click the Install button.
Microsoft Edge will install and be accessible from the app menu when you finish the tasks.
Install Microsoft Edge from commands on Linux
Follow these instructions to install the Edge app using commands in the Terminal:
OpenTerminal.
Press Enter after typing the following command:
To add the Microsoft Edge repository to the distribution, use the following script and hit Enter:
To install Microsoft Edge (stable) on Linux, use the following command and hit Enter:
The stable version of the Microsoft browser will install on your Linux distribution once you’ve finished the procedures.
Uninstall Microsoft Edge on Linux
Applications on Linux can be uninstalled either the command experience or graphical user interface.
Use these procedures to uninstall Microsoft Edge from Linux:
Launch your Linux distribution’s app store. For instance, Linux Mint’s Software Manager or App Center (also known as Ubuntu Software).
On the Installed tab, click.
In the Applications section, click the “Remove” option for Microsoft Edge.
The application won’t be accessible on your computer after you finish the steps.
Using the command instructions below, you can still uninstall Microsoft Edge even if App Center isn’t displaying it.
Use these procedures to remove Edge using Ubuntu commands:
OpenTerminal.
To remove Microsoft Edge from Linux, type the following command and hit Enter:
To confirm, press the Y key and Enter.
Microsoft Edge will be deleted from your Linux distribution when you finish the procedures.
Install Microsoft Edge Insider on Linux
Use these procedures to install Microsoft Edge’s Beta or Dev Channel version on Linux:
The webpage for Microsoft Edge.
In the Dev Channel or Beta Channel area, click the Download button.
To start the download, click the “Accept and download” button.
To start the installer, double-click the *.debfile.
To install Edge on Linux, click the Install button.
Microsoft Teams will install and be accessible from the app menu when you finish the tasks.
Install Microsoft Edge Insider from commands on Linux
Use these procedures to install the Edge Insider app using commands:
OpenTerminal.
Press Enter after typing the following command:
To add the Microsoft Edge repository to the distribution, use the following script and hit Enter:
(Choice 1) To install Microsoft Edge in the Dev Channel on Linux, type the following command and hit Enter:
(Option 2) To install Microsoft Edge on the Linux Beta Channel, type the following command and hit Enter:
The preview version of Edge will install on your Linux distribution once you’ve finished the procedures. Following the procedure, you can use the app launcher to open the app.
Uninstall Microsoft Edge Insider on Linux
Like with the stable version, you may use the GUI or command experience to get rid of the Microsoft browser on any Linux flavor. If the App Center app does not offer the option to delete the browser, you can still follow the command instructions.
Use these procedures to get rid of Microsoft Edge:
Launch your Linux distribution’s app store.
On the Installed tab, click.
In the Applications section, click the Uninstall button for Microsoft Edge.
Click the Microsoft Edge Beta Uninstall button.
The application won’t be accessible on your computer after you finish the steps.
